Fenton Daytime
The Fenton ASG neighborhood group's members have varied interests. We have many talented quilters, garment sewists, crafters, and those who enjoy upcycling thrift store finds. Our group is very generous with their time and talent for charity. Every meeting finds contacts for various groups in need, going home with a stack or trunkful of donated items.
Unless noted, we meet the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 10:00 AM at the Calvary Fellowship Church, 1811 Smizer Station Road, Fenton, MO.
Note: In any given month, we may be meeting online or outside. Use the Get in Touch button below for information.
April Bunnies
For our April, 2022 meeting, we had a challenge to create a rabbit. Everyone used the Belle & Bert pattern by Clara's Place. Here are the some of the 13 bunnies that were completed!
Trunk Show
In June Barb treated us to a "trunk show" of many of her vintage treasures and latest quilting projects, including a miniature quilt that competed in the Paducah quilt show this spring. The program was followed by an in-house picnic lunch.
Quilts of Gee's Bend
At our November meeting, member Diane did a program on The Quilts of Gee’s Bend. One of these quilts has been in her family for years and she has visited the Gee’s Bend Quilt Collective. It was a very interesting story and we enjoyed seeing her quilt. Read more about the Gee's Bend quiltmakers here.
Duffel Bag Progress
Our July meeting included a sew in to work on duffel bags for our chapter-wide charity project. Several members stayed and project leader Judy Finck was there to lead us through the process. Members Carol and Shirley had taken several kits home to serge around the rectangles, thus completing the first step. That was a big help. Carol reported that 25 duffel bags were given to the Foster Care and Adoption Coalition.
Christmas in July
Our July program was Christmas in July. Each member was encouraged to bring a gift or craft idea.
Vintage Sewing
Our May program featured "Antique and Vintage Sewing." We had quilts, pillowcases, napkins, aprons, and handkerchiefs
Chenille Scarves from Flannel
At our September meeting, member Peggy presented a program on making chenille scarves from flannel. She brought several samples and partially finished scarves to allow members to try the chenille cutter.
