We have a wide variety of people that are part of our group, you are sure to find your place with us, we would love to meet you.

Unless noted, we meet the 4th Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church (1810 McClintock Ave., Belleville).  No meetings in November and December.

Adjusting Patterns

At our April meeting, Sandra presented a program on basic garment pattern adjustments. She pointed out some important measurements to take and we asked many questions. Sandra has had a long career in the sewing industry and has a wealth of knowledge to share with us.

Holiday Party

Our annual party was fun as usual!  Festivities included a game in which we divided into two teams, and each team dressed up one member as a snow woman using batting, table cloths, and sheets of foam.

Denim Jacket Insertion Technique

At our May meeting, member Sandra showed us how to do the pieced insertions for a denim jacket.  The wide insertion for the back of her jacket was sewn in a diagonal pattern for maximum effect.  She also showed us how to cut lace for use as appliqués on denim.  This is in anticipation of the August denim and lace event for the chapter.

Cutting our Cutting Time

Laurie started us out in February with a fun and interesting demonstration of the Go Baby model of the Appliquilt cutting system. It can cut up to six layers of fabric using a manual crank and replaceable templates in a variety of designs. It is very affordable and provides a dizzying array of ideas for all kinds of sewing and craft project

All About Feet

Member Debbie presented a program on accessory feet for sewing machines.  There are lots of them if her inventory is any indication!  Sewing techniques are frequently much easier with the appropriate foot.

T-Shirt Necklaces

What do you do with a whole lot of t-shirts that no one is wearing? Cut them into strips and make them into beautiful necklaces, that’s what. Cindy showed us how to do just that at our March meeting. In fact, she did the hard work and cut up lots of t-shirts from which to choose.
