About the event
Helen Wall was born in England and came to the United States to the University of Kansas where she met her husband, Lewis Wall. Helen’s specialty is creating “wearable art” and she has been a finalist in 30 national sewing award competitions for her work, including 5 American Sewing Guild Creativity Contests and 4 Hoffman Challenge prizes. Helen will be providing us with a trunk show of some of her award winning wearable art garments and discuss with us her inspirations and techniques used in creating these beautiful garments.
Jane Unger is a passionate student and maker of anything constructed with fibers, including garments, fiber art, quilts and mixed media. Her background in drawing, architecture and design has influenced her passion for art quilting where she combines creativity, stitching and mixed media techniques as unique fiber pieces. She is a project designer and workshop instructor for Frond Design Studios, a fabric company that specializes in bold, graphic fabrics that start as original paintings on canvas. Jane regularly teaches art quilting and surface design classes at Jackman’s Fabrics and quilt guilds. Stirring creativity in others and giving them permission to experiment freely with fabrics and surface design is her super power. Jane will be providing us with a presentation of the many surface design techniques that she and others have used in art quilting.
