How long have you been sewing?
I received a sewing machine as a graduation gift (nursing school) in 1977.
That is when the journey started.
How did you learn to sew?
Self-taught, bought a pattern and fabric from SoFro and went for it.
What was the first thing you remember sewing?
7th grade Home Economics class. A red, white and blue cotton stripe skirt. I immediately threw it in the trash upon arriving home.
What do you like to sew?
Clothing and handbags.
What is your least favorite thing to do involving sewing?
Shortening men’s vented blazer sleeves.
Any particular type of fabric you like to use.
Liverpool knits.
What kind of sewing machine do you have? Any other machines like serger, etc.
I like the older mechanical sewing machines. I also have other specialty machines, like blind hem, upholstery, and coverstitch.
What do you make that you are most proud of?
Handbags.
How long have you been a Guild member? Why did you join the Guild?
I joined the guild in 2019. I joined the guild because I enjoy charity sewing.
Biggest change in sewing over the years?
Choice! Unlimited patterns, fabrics, videos, classes, and inspiration.
Best sewing tip for us?
It is not necessary to have expensive equipment to achieve good results.
What sewing groups do you belong to; neighborhood or online?
I belong to Sew Amused Stitchers and Fashion, Fabric, & Friends.
Is there anything about you that you would like us to know?
I enjoy sewing with other people, some of the most fun days I have had.
